Login Problems: Many users found themselves involuntarily logged out of their Facebook accounts, with subsequent login attempts proving futile. Instagram users faced similar challenges, experiencing difficulty in refreshing their feeds and accessing stories and comments. Threads, a Meta-developed app, was also affected, displaying error messages upon launch and rendering it unusable.

The disruption triggered a rapid surge in reports on DownDetector, a website that monitors internet service outages. Despite the escalating user complaints, Meta has yet to formally acknowledge the issue.

Technical Details

According to reports, affected users are met with an error message indicating that their login session has expired, resulting in rejected login attempts. This issue extends beyond just social media platforms, impacting Meta Quest headsets and consequently disrupting functions like Horizon Worlds, thereby affecting the broader metaverse experience.
